Wattle Flat - History (this website)

A refreshed look at our amazing journey through time

Wattle Flat has an interesting colonial history like many other places, and this is the base for this look at our collective journey so far. It provides a starting point, a vantage point, a hilltop in the landscape – timescape from which to  see more of the Wattle Flat district.

This website seeks to learn and share – an understanding of  – the parts and whole of our living system through time.

The current focal place is Wattle Flat NSW, from the perspective of 2019. Wattle Flat is as good a place as any with tangible links to: the modern era; colonial times; industry and agriculture; aboriginal culture; Australia’s unique flora & fauna; gold mineralisation; plate tectonics; formation of rocks; and much more.

Anything that has existed in the Wattle Flat district in the near past, or at any time before that is considered relevant. There is deliberately lots of flexibility in this definition.

This site will hopefully evolve into a network of stories on a range of interlinked themes. These stories seek to learn and share the truth, the real story, to the best of our ability.

Maybe this website will become: a valued repository of stories; a source of inspiration; an adjunct background against which to make respectful decisions.

This website may never be complete or finished. Like life it is free to evolve as long as it remains alive.

At its core, this is a reflection on the journey of life itself, surviving amid adversity and against probability.
