3. The underground workings of The Old Solitary Mine
The replica wooden tripod headframe in the basin before you pays homage to a similar headframe that was erected in 1896 on the slope just behind you. A photo below shows Brailey with his mining party and another photo of a miner underground with the quartz reef behind him. A steel headframe was erected here in 1936.
